Terms of Service
Last updated: May 1, 2026
These Terms of Service apply to your use of the OpenGolf mobile application, website, and related services, together referred to as the "Service".
By downloading, accessing, or using OpenGolf, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not use the Service.
1. About OpenGolf
OpenGolf is a digital platform for golfers. It allows users to discover golf courses, find open golf competitions, view golf-related information, join or manage golf societies, and use related golf features made available through the app or website.
OpenGolf does not own or operate golf courses. OpenGolf does not organise open competitions unless this is clearly stated. We provide technology and information that helps users discover golf-related opportunities and connect with clubs, societies, and other golfers.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use OpenGolf.
If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian to use the Service.
By using OpenGolf, you confirm that:
- you are legally able to agree to these Terms;
- any information you provide is accurate and up to date;
- you will use the Service in a lawful and respectful way.
3. Accounts
Some OpenGolf features may require you to create an account.
When creating or using an account, you agree to:
- provide accurate and up-to-date information;
- keep your login details secure;
- be responsible for activity carried out through your account;
- notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
You are responsible for anything done through your account, even if someone else accesses it.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, misuse the Service, create risk for other users, or create risk for OpenGolf.
4. Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your OpenGolf account at any time.
You can request account deletion by using any account deletion option available inside the app, or by visiting: https://www.opengolf.club/delete-account
Deleting the OpenGolf app from your device does not automatically delete your OpenGolf account.
When an account is deleted, OpenGolf will delete or anonymise personal account data associated with that account where applicable. Some limited information may be retained where required for legal, security, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, dispute handling, or operational record keeping purposes.
More information is available in our Privacy Policy.
5. Your Data and Privacy
Your use of OpenGolf is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, how long we keep it, and what rights you may have.
You should read the Privacy Policy before using the Service.
6. Golf Courses and Open Competitions
OpenGolf displays golf course information and open competition listings based on sources that may include:
- information provided by golf clubs;
- publicly available information;
- booking links or third-party sources;
- information submitted by users;
- information reviewed or added by OpenGolf.
We try to keep listings useful and accurate, but we do not guarantee that all information is complete, current, or error-free.
In particular, we do not guarantee that:
- a competition is still available;
- a tee time is available;
- a listed price is correct;
- a booking link still works;
- a course is open;
- a competition format is correct;
- an event has not been cancelled, changed, or fully booked.
You must confirm all bookings, pricing, availability, entry requirements, and competition details directly with the relevant golf club or booking provider.
OpenGolf is not responsible for cancelled competitions, overbookings, course closures, incorrect listings, pricing changes, booking issues, or any loss arising from reliance on information shown in the Service.
7. Bookings and Third-Party Services
OpenGolf may display links to third-party websites, booking systems, golf clubs, payment providers, maps, or other services.
These third-party services are not controlled by OpenGolf. Their own terms, privacy policies, booking rules, cancellation rules, and payment rules may apply.
Unless clearly stated, OpenGolf does not take bookings on behalf of golf clubs and does not control third-party booking availability, tee times, pricing, refunds, cancellations, or competition entry rules.
You are responsible for checking the relevant third-party terms before making a booking, payment, or other commitment.
8. Golf Societies
OpenGolf may allow users to create, join, manage, or participate in golf societies.
Society creators, captains, administrators, and members are responsible for their own society activity, including:
- event organisation;
- player lists;
- scoring;
- rules;
- payments;
- communication;
- cancellations;
- disputes between members.
OpenGolf provides tools to help manage society activity. We are not responsible for disputes between society members, missing payments, incorrect scores, cancellations, no-shows, or decisions made by society organisers.
We may remove, restrict, or suspend societies or society content where we believe there has been misuse, abuse, unlawful activity, or a breach of these Terms.
9. Payments
Some OpenGolf features may be free. Other features may be paid, or may involve payments through third-party providers, if and when those features are made available.
Where OpenGolf supports paid features, third-party payments, subscriptions, organiser payments, competition payments, or society-related payments, the relevant pricing and payment details will be shown before payment is made.
OpenGolf does not store your card details.
Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers. Their own terms and privacy policies may apply.
Unless otherwise stated at the point of payment:
- payments are final once made;
- refunds are subject to the relevant organiser, club, provider, or OpenGolf rules;
- OpenGolf is not responsible for private payment disputes between users;
- OpenGolf is not responsible for payment arrangements made outside the Service.
Nothing in these Terms affects any rights you may have under applicable consumer law.
10. User Content
You may be able to submit, upload, publish, send, or display content through OpenGolf. This may include:
- profile information;
- messages;
- society names;
- society information;
- course reviews;
- submitted open competitions;
- event details;
- comments;
- images;
- other golf-related information.
You are responsible for any content you submit.
You agree that you will not submit content that:
- is false, misleading, or inaccurate;
- is offensive, abusive, threatening, harassing, or discriminatory;
- is illegal or encourages illegal activity;
- infringes another person's rights;
- contains spam, advertising, scams, or malicious links;
- contains private information about another person without permission;
- impersonates another person, club, society, or organisation;
- interferes with the operation of the Service.
When you submit content to OpenGolf, you confirm that you have the right to submit it.
You grant OpenGolf a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display, publish, adapt, process, and use that content as needed to operate, provide, improve, promote, and protect the Service.
This licence allows us to display your content in the app or website, process it for app features, moderate it, make technical copies, and use it in connection with OpenGolf.
You remain responsible for your own content.
11. Content Moderation and Reports
We may review, hide, remove, restrict, or delete user content where we believe it:
- breaches these Terms;
- is unlawful;
- is misleading or inaccurate;
- infringes rights;
- causes harm or risk to users;
- creates risk for OpenGolf;
- is otherwise unsuitable for the Service.
We may also restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts where users misuse the Service or repeatedly breach these Terms.
Users may report concerns by contacting: support@opengolf.club
We are not required to monitor all content, but we may take action where we believe it is appropriate.
12. Behaviour and Acceptable Use
You agree to use OpenGolf in a lawful, respectful, and responsible way.
You may not:
- harass, abuse, threaten, or target other users;
- misrepresent yourself or impersonate another person;
- submit false, misleading, or harmful information;
- manipulate scores, events, listings, reviews, payments, or society activity;
- interfere with another user's account;

- upload malware, harmful code, or malicious links;
- use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purposes;
- use the Service in a way that damages OpenGolf, other users, golf clubs, or third parties.
We may take action against accounts or activity that we believe breaches this section.
13. Automated Access and Data Extraction
You may not access, collect, copy, monitor, scrape, crawl, harvest, extract, download, reproduce, or reuse data from OpenGolf using bots, scripts, spiders, scrapers, automated tools, or any other automated method without our prior written permission.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- golf course information;
- open competition listings;
- pricing, dates, booking links, and availability information;
- user profiles or account information;
- society information;
- reviews, messages, or user-submitted content;
- website structure, layout, design, or compiled datasets.
You may not use OpenGolf data to build, train, enhance, or operate another website, app, database, directory, AI model, search tool, commercial product, or competing service without our prior written permission.
You may not bypass, disable, overload, reverse engineer, interfere with, or attempt to circumvent any security, access control, rate limiting, API restriction, robots.txt instruction, or other technical measure used to protect OpenGolf.
Search engines may access publicly available website pages for normal indexing purposes, provided they comply with our robots.txt file and do not place an unreasonable load on the Service.
We may block, limit, suspend, or terminate access where we believe automated access, scraping, excessive requests, misuse, or unauthorised data extraction is taking place.
14. Intellectual Property
The OpenGolf name, branding, app, website, design, software, database structure, content, compiled data, logos, text, graphics, user interface, and related materials are owned by OpenGolf or licensed to OpenGolf.
You may use OpenGolf for personal, non-commercial golf discovery and related golf activity.
You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, license, scrape, republish, create derivative works from, or commercially exploit any part of OpenGolf or its data without our prior written permission.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of OpenGolf intellectual property to you.
15. App Stores and Platform Rules
If you download OpenGolf through an app store, such as Google Play or the Apple App Store, the relevant app store terms may also apply.
The app store provider is not responsible for providing support for OpenGolf unless required under its own terms.
If there is a conflict between these Terms and the app store terms, the app store terms may apply to your use of the app store itself, while these Terms apply to your use of OpenGolf.
16. Availability and Changes to the Service
We may update, change, suspend, restrict, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
We may need to carry out maintenance, updates, security changes, or technical work that affects availability.
We are not responsible for any loss caused by the Service being unavailable, delayed, interrupted, changed, or discontinued.
